We have chosen Safe Haven Family Homeless Shelter again this year for our 2009 Holiday Charity Drive

WHAT

The first way to donate was a FAVORITE for our children last year, so we will continue this tradition! We are asking children to bring hats, scarves, gloves and mittens for all ages to decorate our Christmas tree.
And secondly, we are asking you to send in your loose change. If each child brings in just $1 in loose change, we can contribute $700 to Safe Haven! (If you want to send in something not so loose, we accept bills as well as checks or money orders made out to Edison PTA.)
And finally, Dr. Powe has sacrificed himself for this worthy cause! We will be hold a raffle one lucky student to be Principal for the Day on Wednesday, December 16! Students can purchase chances to win this honor at the price of 4 chances for $1 first thing Monday & Tuesday, December 14-15 and at the General Assembly Monday evening.

WHERE
The PTA Christmas Tree is on display at the Edison library entrance.
A collection jar will sit beside the tree.
A collection box will also sit on the counter in the office.
The PTA will have a table set up in the front office first thing Monday and Tuesday, December 14-15, to sell raffle tickets for a chance to be Principal for the Day. Tickets will be $0.25 or 4 for $1.00, and will also be on sale at the General Assembly that Monday evening!

WHY

Safe Haven if the ONLY local homeless shelter that helps complete families. They require all adults who are not caring for a young infant to get a job and work during their stay as well as to remain drug free and take training courses. They provide day care so the parents can work and attend training. Participants must save most of their money they earn while living there to get their start in their new home. Safe Haven helps find homes for their families and provides them with the basics they need to set up their household. This is the local homeless shelter than has the biggest impact on the lives of children in our area, and due to the economy they need our help more than ever!

6th Annual Edison Fall Festival

Over $2,000 was raised to benefit the students at Thomas A. Edison Elementary.
Our teachers also raised money to purchase items for their classrooms!

Warm Coats From Warm Hearts Coat Drive

Thomas A. Edison Elementary donated 7 HUGE bags of coats to Granny White Church of Christ for their Warm Coats from Warm Hearts coat drive. WAY TO GO, EDISON FAMILY!!!!
